Nena y Nona, a new ice cream parlor in Mexico City's Colonia Roma honors the legacy of recipes passed down by sisters Nena and Nona, who lived in the Escópica Lens Shop building almost 80 years ago. The sister-duo left over 23 ice cream flavor recipes, which not only can be served the traditional way (in a cone or in a cup) but also in biscuit sandwiches, cakes, or even milkshakes. Expect to find all types of sundaes and ice cream balls, beignets, banana splits, brownies, coffee, and waffles.
Like a traditional speakeasy, Nena y Nona is almost unrecognizable from the outside unless you spot the logo in the window. Beautiful pastel colors fill the inside of the ice cream parlor and the pleasant street view makes it perfect for people watching.
In need of a pick-me-up with a side of sweetness? Visit this tranquil parlor while passing by Colonia Roma.
